260 W 39TH ST

MANHATTAN, NYC

This renovation of a 1920’s building in midtown Manhattan aimed to impart a sense of comfort and orientation to the visitor through strategic improvements and better proportioned spaces.

The design included a reconfiguration of the building base and storefronts, a new building entrance, and lobbies that were made continuous. The project included the restoration of original building materials such as limestone walls, terrazzo flooring and bronze elevator doors, paired with a dramatic new suspended wood wall and ceiling panel, new lighting, and a new sculptural wood desk.

The result successfully blended the existing traditional details with bold new modern materials and was the winner of the annual Fashion District Award for the best design in the Garment District.
