470 PARK AVENUE SOUTH

MANHATTAN, NYC

The renovation of an early 20th century, neoclassical office building in midtown Manhattan transformed a dark, narrow, and unwelcoming lobby into a spacious entrance to the large office building.

Cutting through the thick masonry wall and replacing it with a striking glass panel permitted natural light while avoiding any existing structure. Shallow entrance vestibules replaced deep ones, increasing the interior space area. Elements of earlier postmodern renovations were incorporated into a language of contemporary forms, materials, and composition.
