BMW BUILDING

MANHATTAN, NYC

The design was for the renovation of the exterior entrance plaza on 57th Street and of the interior lobby spaces including elevators. The strategy of the design for this iconic 1970’s era building was to address its outdated appearance and improve inherent deficiencies of the original design to its current use.

Lobby finishes were removed or altered to provide for a coherent space where the various elevator lobbies are easily identifiable. The elevator lobbies and cabs were fully renovated with new signage introduced. At the service areas, existing travertine walls were replaced with dark bronze metal paneling to allow them to recede within the sprawling space.
